Microsoft Clarity Detector
Paste any URL and instantly see whether the site is built with Microsoft Clarity — with the matched evidence.

Why check this
Confirm the platform first: Third-party scripts decides what can be changed and whether it is worth it.
What this is
Microsoft Clarity is a behaviour-analytics script for heatmaps, scroll depth and session replay. Product and growth teams use it to watch where users stall, at the cost of extra JavaScript and potential privacy-review questions. During performance work, separate Clarity from advertising pixels because the recording pipeline stresses main-thread time differently. Confirming clarity.ms early prevents blaming theme CSS for long tasks that actually come from session capture.
How to tell from a public page
- [Microsoft Clarity] Microsoft Clarity HTML/source match on `clarity.ms` (evidence shows hit count).
- [Microsoft Clarity] Secondary Microsoft Clarity clue (clarity): leftover hosts still spelling Microsoft Clarity.
- [Microsoft Clarity] Policy-only Microsoft Clarity mentions (clarity) without a structural Microsoft Clarity host stay unconfirmed.
How to read the result
Pin confirmed Microsoft Clarity to evidence such as CDN hostnames, security headers or framework data blobs. Consent banners may delay clarity.ms until after the first paint you audited. Common false positives: Blog posts naming Clarity as a recommended tool without an embed. After a hit: Gate recording behind consent, sample sessions, and compare TBT with the script blocked.
What to do next
Gate recording behind consent, sample sessions, and compare TBT with the script blocked. Session-replay alternatives are on Hotjar detector. Keep run the full performance / images / SEO / accessibility audit on the home page for the residual vitals sweep.

FAQ
How is Microsoft Clarity detected?
From structural signatures in the public HTML and response headers (domains, paths, attributes, scripts). Every verdict lists how many times each pattern matched — nothing is guessed.
Can the result be wrong?
If only a bare brand keyword matches without structural evidence, we label it \u201clikely\u201d instead of \u201cconfirmed\u201d — we would rather under-report than cry wolf.
Do you save the URLs I check?
No. The audit runs inside the request and the URL you paste is not written to storage. There are no third-party tracking scripts on the page either, so no log of who checked what exists. Copy the result yourself if you want a record.
Can a website hide what it is built with?
Partly, but rarely completely. The HTML sent to your browser, the response headers, script paths and asset structure have to be exposed to work, so there is always something readable. Server-side code, build config and private APIs stay invisible. That is why this tool reports the evidence it found rather than claiming a full picture. No match does not mean the technology is absent.
Is Microsoft Clarity the same as Google Analytics?
No. Analytics mostly gives you numbers: traffic, sources, conversions. Clarity gives you session recordings and heatmaps, so you can watch how people actually click and where they get stuck. Plenty of sites run both, so finding Clarity does not mean Analytics is absent. Check for each script's own identifier separately.
