Joomla Detector

Paste any URL and instantly see whether the site is built with Joomla — with the matched evidence.

We do not store the URL you audit. Want the full audit (performance / images / SEO / accessibility + real-browser speed test)? → run the full audit

Why check this

Confirm the platform first: CMS decides what can be changed and whether it is worth it.

What this is

Joomla is a long-standing PHP CMS. Associations, SMBs and multilingual sites still run it widely. Confirmation tells you whether the template package, extensions or the media folder dominates CSS weight and first-paint request counts. Extension sprawl — not the core PHP runtime — usually explains slow mobile pages.

How to tell from a public page

How to read the result

Confirm when generator or media paths reproduce; a forum signature naming the CMS does not qualify. Absence can mean a total template replacement that also removed generator. Host feature matrices that list supported CMS options create soft hits. After a hit, inventory extensions and verify gzip/cache plugins actually fire.

What to do next

Prune extensions, compress template CSS, and check upload dimensions. Compare migration cost against WordPress — see WordPress detector. A full audit path starts at run the full performance / images / SEO / accessibility audit on the home page. Record which Joomla template folder fired so redesign quotes stay accurate.

Joomla template detector angle

Queries for a Joomla template detector usually mean which front-end template package is active. After a structural hit, look at `/templates/<name>/` asset folders, generator-adjacent comments, and repeated module chrome that maps to a stock template family. Template package URLs beat homepage slogans when you need to know what to restyle or replace.

FAQ

How is Joomla detected?

From structural signatures in the public HTML and response headers (domains, paths, attributes, scripts). Every verdict lists how many times each pattern matched — nothing is guessed.

Can the result be wrong?

If only a bare brand keyword matches without structural evidence, we label it \u201clikely\u201d instead of \u201cconfirmed\u201d — we would rather under-report than cry wolf.

Do you save the URLs I check?

No. The audit runs inside the request and the URL you paste is not written to storage. There are no third-party tracking scripts on the page either, so no log of who checked what exists. Copy the result yourself if you want a record.

Can a website hide what it is built with?

Partly, but rarely completely. The HTML sent to your browser, the response headers, script paths and asset structure have to be exposed to work, so there is always something readable. Server-side code, build config and private APIs stay invisible. That is why this tool reports the evidence it found rather than claiming a full picture. No match does not mean the technology is absent.

Can I tell the Joomla version from a public page?

Sometimes, but more sites are actively hiding it. Some templates and extensions put a version number in the page or in asset paths, and the admin login page often does too. If a site strips version information, only structural clues remain, such as directory layout and component naming patterns. Then you can confirm Joomla itself but not the version.

Going further

If this build is yours, three things usually explain the score: media that enters the CMS without dimensions, slices that re-render the same block, and fonts loaded from a third-party host.
